The “scratched” texture on this Pyrex™ bowl was completely unexpected, as was having it magnified by the bokeh in the photo on the right. The bowl was relatively new and had only ever been washed with a microfiber cloth.
The light from a small LED flashlight, out of frame on the right, passes through a stream of water reflecting on the outer surface as it enters and the inner surface as it exits. It took about 0.06354 nanoseconds to do so. (Thank you, WolframAlpha!)
